"Ligaya" is Tagalog or Filipino for happiness or joy. Since my childhood, I have enjoyed art and sharing this with others. First this was through drawings, pastels, and then paintings. Eventually my path lead me to architecture school with an emphasis on modern design. I chose the name "ligaya" to reflect a joy of design which I wish to share with others. Thus our goal is to share this joy and appreciation in architecture and interiors while aiming for optimal solutions.
Ligaya Design & Consulting LLC has provided design and resource assistance to other architects and designers in the DC region, since 2006. This later expanded to some freelance writing and home staging projects in 2009. Soon we started working with small businesses such as contractors and home stagers.
Additionally, I plan to share more design insights in the areas of color and lighting. I am also a member of the DC Metro Chapter of Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). Today CSI works closely with sustainability (code, products, and practices) and BIM (Building Information Management) technology. I hope to write about these insights and lessons learned, while sharing a joy of design.
